Breath and Bones

August 5, 2014

Walking slowly while engines turn,

Weeks become years in the blink of an eye.

You want to do and understand more,

But history and politics are slippery friends.

Swimming through traffic and passing thoughts,

Tales of love and death unfold.

You search for home and find its moved,

Without so much as a forward address.

In the meantime empires rise and fall,

And even Google will turn to dust.

But the Universe won’t pause to Like, or Re-Tweet,

Or even show any Pinterest.

So everyone can play the game,

Regardless of the rules.

But in the end the sages tell,

We’re sacred heart, breath and bones.
